Pittsburgh Materials Technology Inc. (PMTI) specializes in the technology of high temperature metallic alloys and other specialty materials. PMTI provides customers with a wide range of materials development, fabrication, testing, and characterization. For over forty years, we have been involved in materials development for applications related to energy production, aircraft and aerospace propulsion, space power and similar advanced technologies.

PMTI operates a comprehensive and unique facility with experienced engineers and technicians specializing in the following areas of high temperature materials technology:

• Development, processing, metalworking, fabrication and joining of advanced high strength, high temperature materials based on refractory and reactive metal alloy systems.



• Processing of cryo milled Aluminum powders to create higher strength Al alloys. PMTI is installing the capability to cryo mill Al powders. Today, PMTI is cryo milling Molybdenum powder.



• Vacuum brazing of Aluminum heat exchangers used in electronic systems.



• Application of high and ultra-high vacuum technology to materials processing and testing.



• Metallurgical services including mechanical testing, metallography, light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis.



• Development and testing of both particulate and short fiber reinforced metal matrix composites.



• The design and fabrication of high thermal efficiency vacuum foil insulation systems.
